How Common Good began, and who keeps it going.

Our legacy stems from the collaborative drive of Bill Morrison and Larry Stettner, whose foundational goal of community nourishing persists today through local hands. Dedicated volunteers ensure the kitchen thrives, preparing popovers that fund our annual operations via summer donations. We rely on the generosity of grant organizations and compassionate individuals within our seasonal and permanent community to sustain our mission of service.

Kitchen Highlights

Land Acknowledgement

Common Good Soup Kitchen resides on Pemetic, within the traditional territory of the Wabanaki. We honor the People of the Dawnland—the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Maliseet, and Mi'kmaq—who have stewarded these lands and waters for millennia. As we gather to share food, we recognize their enduring presence and commit to a future of respect, learning, and partnership with the Wabanaki people, honoring their deep history on this beautiful island.
